About The Camp

Dear Camp Pacific Heartland Friends,

On behalf of our kids, I want to extend my sincere thanks to you for supporting another annual Camp Pacific Heartland session. Without a doubt, your contributions have made a difference.

The 1999 camp session again took place at the Wilshire Boulevard Temple Camps beautiful Camp Hilltop in Malibu. From only 58 children at our inaugural 1995 session, now over 100 children enjoy the Malibu camp each summer. Evaluations from parents, caretakers, physicians, agencies and especially the kids have been extremely positive. Here is an example from a letter I received from the mother of a 14 year old camper: "Thank you for making John's trip so enjoyable!...He said he made lots of new friends...When John returned home I thought you had replaced him with an alien or something. He was polite and eager to help. I always knew there was a good kid there! The break from being a full time single parent was nice too. John really wants to come back next year and can't wait for it to get here! Keep up the fantastic work and thank you from the bottom of my heart for giving John a retreat from a bad situation."

We cannot promise that every child will return home more polite and mannered! Yet, based on our previous sessions, we can guarantee that every camper will return home with a renewed sense of hope, positive memories and many new friends.

Our 1999 Camp Pacific Heartland session touched the lives of hundreds of kids and volunteers. Highlights of the week included a Toga-party themed carnival, the ever-popular MTV dance party and a visit from MTV personality Daisy Fuentes.

I am thrilled to report that for our sixth summer in August 2000, Camp Pacific Heartland will again take place in Malibu. As always, Camp Pacific Heartland will be provided entirely free of charge for every participant. We truly appreciate your continued support of our clients. Special thanks to all the CPH volunteers. Your hard work is greatly appreciated.

Thank you for offering hope to HIV affected children.

With best wishes,

George Willdon
